Things to Do in Southern Utah

Angel's Landing hiking trail in Zion National Park

Utah's National Park

Utah is home to ‘The Mighty Five:’ Arches National Park, Canyonlands National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Zion National Park, and Capitol Reef National Park. For guests of Elite Accommodations, Zion National Park will make for the easiest day trip!

Zion National Park features an awe-inspiring 1,000-foot red rock canyon that you can explore. Find a hiking trail to follow along or go for a canyoneering expedition. Two of the most popular hiking trails that can be found within the park include Emerald Pools and Angels Landing, but you can be sure to find less-trafficked trails and make the experience your own!

If you are up for a bit further of a day trip, Bryce Canyon National Park is also within driving distance of our Southern Utah vacation homes. Bryce offers an 18-mile scenic drive as well as 4 stunning viewpoints that can’t be missed. Compared to Zion’s desert scenery, Bryce is an alpine forest with legendary red rock hoodoo formations as well as natural amphitheaters. Make the drive to take in these breathtaking views and natural wonders!

No matter the park or activity you decide on, be sure that you are prepared for the elements as well as to be a respectful visitor — stay hydrated, stay safe, and be sure to leave no trace!

Historical Sites in Southern Utah

During a stay in one of our Southern Utah vacation homes, combine outdoor exploration with a dive into the past! Visitors with sharp eyes can find petroglyphs (rock carvings dating back 2,000 years) in nearby nature parks and preserves during their vacation.

Archeologists have dated the Land Hill Heritage Site back to the period between 700 B.C. and A.D. 1200. During this time, Ancestral Puebloans constructed permanent structures, farmed, and created ceramics. Later, Southern Paiute would be the only indigenous peoples to occupy the area. This heritage site is in the Santa Clara River Reserve and is a protected space, please be respectful of the area’s historical and environmental significance when visiting.

Bloomington Petroglyph Park is another city park in St. George, Utah where visitors can spot the ancient rock carvings. The 0.5-acre park is an easily accessed historic site where you can take a peek into ancient history! Please do not touch the carvings and remember to leave no trace!
